Pretty in Pink!

When I was recently in south Florida with my family, my sister and I were in Tory Burch, because I wanted to buy a pair of comfy flats. I noticed the flats I bought also came in... children's sizes! And in a variety of colours! I picked up a pair, and said:

"I have never wanted a little girl until now!" And that is the truth.

Well, there was one other time I totally wanted a little girl, and that was when I saw this sweater at J.Crew:

I die.

Anyway, as I was holding the itty bitty children's sized Tory Burch shoe in my hand, my sister said to me:

"As if. If I had a girl, I'd never buy her a pair of Tory Burch shoes!"

Remember how shopping with her is a nightmare? She went on to argue about the validity of me buying a pair of Tory Burch flats.

"Well.... why do you need them? It's not like you can wear them to the... park!"

At which point, even the salesperson laughed, because it was clear I had won that arguement!

Anyway, back to my story: I am really, in all honesty, so happy that I have two boys. I love being a mom to boys. Boys are magical, wonderful, so full of life, and so totally active. They make me laugh all the time, and keep me on the edge of my seat, too. They are my boys, my darling little sweetie-pies, and I am so complete with the two of them. I love seeing things through their eyes, and learning everything there is to know about trucks. I totally respect constuction workers, too. I am always in awe every time I see a bulldozer or cement mixer. It's fun to learn things from a 'boy' perspective, you know? Plus, when I was a little girl, I loved playing He-Man and She-Ra and LEGO and watching Star Wars. So it's totally cool that I have boys.

At the same time... girls are so cute, too.

And? I just found out that my baby sister is having a GIRL! A girl in our family! A new baby... a girl! I'm so excited, because do you know what this means? It means that since my sister is having a baby girl, I can now buy her Tory Burch flats! And cute sweaters from J.Crew!

And I can send my sister pictuers of this beautiful nursery from Pottery Barn Kids:

And this one:

And I can buy this new baby a dollhouse! And furnish it, with fine wooden furniture, like this:

Oh, the joy! And a sleigh bed for her dolls? Okay!

Yes, I'm happy with my two little destruction workers, but the fact that my sister is having a girl is totally fabulous... now I can buy pink to my heart's content!

I won't do anything over-the-top, though, like suggest she buy this $20,000 crib. I mean, I know where to draw the line, okay? (But it's kind of cute - admit it!)

And I certainly won't suggest she buy her baby a $4,000 high chair. That's just silly.

And now, even though my sister will probably roll her eyes at my suggestions for her baby girl, there is no stopping ME from buying things for her, right?

Like... cute pink Converse and pink tutus!

Coming up: I'm in charge of planning my sister's baby shower! Squee! I'll be writing a post about this soon, and I'll need your suggestions for everything fabulous and pink for a baby shower!

Girls are a ton of fun to dress. But they develop their own styles so early. With my 2nd daughter I had all of 18 months to dress her before she started saying NO to cute jeans. She hates jeans even now and they look so cute on.

Congrats to your sister!

That crib is outta control! And girl if you think you have a hard time restraining yourself now, shopping for your boys, trust me, it's 100 times worse with girls!!!

I'm with OHmommy...I get almost no say anymore. Nothing is cute except dresses and skirts and tights must be worn with them. It's quite exhausting.

But, they do have their cuddly sweet moments, too. And, honestly, when we are around boys I don't know how you do it. They are CRAZY sometimes.

Both of my girls had those pink high top Converse!!

Oh, we also had one of those cribs except ours was on sale for $16,000.

Ah...the highchair, YEP we had two of those also. One for my house and then one for my mom's house. I figured at only $4,000 I should go ahead and get two.

The lil diva spit green peas on it and we had to toss it. Other than that, it was a good highchair.

ummm hmmm

LOL!

Best of both worlds! A girl to spoil and that you can send home :-) Jealous! Seriously though, I never imagined I would love boys so much too and to be honest I kind of like being the only "princess" in the house.

Girls are definitely a whole different species than boys! But both are equally as FABULOUS!

On a sidenote, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the pink Converse shoes!!!!

i figure that it is a good thing i have boys- that leaves more room in the budget for MY girl things. Otherwise, i might have to share!

You know I have two boys two and wouldn't trade them for the world...but every now and then I kinda wish I had a girl.

Although I will admit that God knew what he was doing because there is no way in Hell I could afford one! LOL! (The wedding alone would kill me!)

But those little converse shoes are so stinkin cute!

I'm not going to lie. I love having a girl. All the pretty little shoes and dresses? I. Love. It. Having said that, there's not a chance in heck that girl of mine is getting a pair of $100 shoes. Sorry, kid, I love ya, but you're not getting shoes that are more expensive than most of mine.

I just love all the girl stuff they have. It is not as much fun shopping for boys. I have such a blast shopping for my goddaughter! You will have fun now with your new niece.

I am laughing---I have always said it is a blessing to our bank account that I didn't have a girl! While I am still a mini Boden, Gap, you name it boy clothes freak--the girl stuff is wayyy to cute for me!!!

I envisioned my girly girl.... and ended up with a Tom-Boy..... I hope you get your wish!

That crib is to. die. for. I love my boys and cried when I found out my fourth was a girl. I wouldn't trade it for the world, now. It *is stinking expensive, though :)

I have two boys...that I adore, but my little nieces get amazing and girly outfits from me...often. It really is fun to have girls in the family. Congrats!

When I only had my son and I would go shopping for clothes for him I would sometimes be frustrated that there were so many more selections of girl items than boy items. But then I was grateful because it meant I would probably not be killing my pocket book to keep him "in fashion".

Now we just had a baby girl - Oh, my - she's already going to be a fashion diva - I better start saving now!

I cannot wait to hear more details about your sister's shower.

By the way... I can't wait to see your plans for the baby shower!! :-)

Oh, girls are so fun! I could not get over that crib! Ha!!

As a mom of 2 boys myself, I feel the same way. Except the only time I get a twinge for a girl is when I see those cute stripey tights. I love the tights!! Especially w/ tutus and rain boots. :) But I'm lucky that I have a niece, too, so I'll just spoil her & get my girly fix that way.

And ohhh, Posh Tots. I got the catalog when I was expecting. It's like porn for pregnant woman!

Okay, stop, please! I am trying hard to convince myself I don't want a third and that I can live without a girl. This is not helping! Hehe.

Love the pinkalicious post :) That's going to be such a fun baby shower for you to plan - excited for your family. Baby shower must-do...make a corsage for your sis to wear made of all cute girly sparkly PINK things -- little frilly socks, bows etc - she'll love it

Ahh- the perfect answer to have a little girl to shop for and spoil and send her home! Just in time for when they become independent and say no to wanting to wear that adorable sweet dress you so love! I am sure you will have so much fun planning the shower and shopping for everything girly now!

Sparkly beats pink any-day-of-the-week.

Ask my dd her fav. colour and she replies "sparkly"

Sparkly shoes, sparkly pants, sparkly headbands...

Congrats to her! And how exciting for you! It sounds like you'd be broke if you had a daughter of your own - haha! I love that tutu...might have to get one for Ms Foo!!!

Thank you so much for your comment today!!! It makes it easier, it really does, knowing I'm not the only one with those feelings!

Too funny! I have a 3 year old boy and I teach pre-k thru kindergarteners and the girls come in with the CUTEST glittery shoes and bows and I go home & tell DH "I want a GIRL!" hahaha

The Tory Burch shoes are cute, and I love the Crew Cuts stuff - all of it! Little girls are wonderful, but dangerous (in terms of shopping) and can be expensive (also in terms of shopping)!

Little girls are cute & fun to dress, but little boys are just FUN! I've got 7 month old twin boys and I'm a very girly girl, but these little guys are just so much fun!

Girls definitely develop their own styles early. So many things I have loved Sophia hates to wear. At 3 some things she outright refuses! I do have say my 20 month old boy has his favorite shirts already too! Now I have a new baby girl to dress up and I am loving it! Congrats on your upcoming addition to the family!
