I'm Going To Be Dancing With Dancing With The Stars!

One of my favourite movies is Girls Just Want To Have Fun. I've seen this movie so many time I could actually write it word for word. Dancing was a huge part of my childhood, and recital days were the most exciting—the make-up! The costumes! The pictures! It was such a thrill being on stage performing. I never considered a career in dance, but as my primary extra-curricular activity, I loved every second of it. I started dancing when I was four years old and continued until grade 10. Ballet to jazz, I loved it all. I knew my days of dancing were over, though, the day I skipped jazz class to go to the mall to buy the new Guns N' Roses Use Your Illusions I and II CD. It was a very big deal, remember?

Now, I'm bringing dancing back into my life, because I received some very exciting news yesterday.

I was asked to be a celebrity dancer for the upcoming Dancing With The Stars For Easter Seals Kids!

I'm going to be partnered with a professional dance instructor from Fred Astaire Dance Studio. I'll learn two dances—just like on Dancing With The Stars! I'll be in the studio almost daily practicing, dancing, working out, and learning my routines. I am SO excited, you guys. Of course, there will be a panel of celebrity judges, too, watching our every move, so I've got a lot of work to do... I just hope I don't fall!

Even though there won't be a camera recording my every move, it'll be just like you see on TV, only better, because this event will be supporting a very worthwhile charity—the Easter Seals. Easter Seals helps children with physical disabilities achieve independence, accessibility, and integration. How amazing is that? They do such amazing work.

The live event takes place in October at the beautiful Ottawa Convention Centre. This night begins at 5 and lasts until midnight, and includes (for the guests) a cocktail hour, a celebrity meet and greet, a gourmet dinner, silent auction and raffle, and, of course, the actual dance competition that I'm SO SO proud to be a part of.

Of course, I will keep you all in the loop as my journey begins—I promise to share with you the good, the bad, and the painful!

Stay tuned...  as I dust off my dancing shoes...

Are you supposed to say "Good luck" or "Break a leg?" Or "Don't break a leg?"
